March 2019 Preventative Care Challenge

We are excited to announce a new partnership with our laboratory Idexx that will allow us to detect disease earlier and help pets live longer, healthier lives.

Did you know that clinically significant bloodwork changes can be found in:

1 in 7 healthy Adults (dogs 3-6  years and cats 2-8 years)

1 in 5 healthy Seniors (dogs 7-10 years, cats 9-13 years)

2 in 5 healthy Geriatrics (dogs 11+ years, cats 14+ years)

These changes were found on ~270,000 seemingly well pets who presented for their annual wellness visit to the veterinarian in >5000 clinics nationwide. To help detect diseases earlier when there is more time for intervention, we are going to offer 6 profiles for cats and dogs, that will provide significant savings when combined with an annual wellness exam.

For Cats:

The standard indoor feline profile will include a fecal test for internal parasites, as well as a blood chemistry profile and CBC which provides information about the liver, kidneys, electrolytes and blood sugar as well as red blood cell, white, blood cell, and platelet counts. For outdoor cats, the standard outdoor feline panel also includes a test for feline leukemia virus, feline immunodeficiency virus, and feline heartworm disease.

The comprehensive indoor feline profile will include a fecal test for internal parasites, the standard blood chemistry profile and CBC, and additional tests looking at thyroid function, a urinalysis, and a cardiopet proBNP which is a screening test for heart disease in cats. For outdoor cats, the comprehensive outdoor feline panel also includes a test for feline leukemia virus, feline immunodeficiency virus, and feline heartworm disease .

For Dogs:

The standard canine profile will include a fecal test for internal parasites, a SNAP 4dx which tests for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma (tick-borne diseases) as well as a blood chemistry profile and CBC which provides information about the liver, kidneys, electrolytes and blood sugar as well as red blood cell, white, blood cell, and platelet counts.

The comprehensive canine profile will include a fecal test for internal parasites, the SNAP 4dx, the standard blood chemistry profile and CBC, and additionally a test looking at thyroid function, a urinalysis as well as urine protein levels, which are particularly important with dogs previously infected with tick borne disease.
